UPDATE to Shawnee Mission Kia
By Hawksdomain | September 21, 2009
Saturday morning I posted the letter I emailed to the New Car Sales Manager at Shawnee Mission Kia. Right after I hit the send button, I receved a call from the Manager, Chris Winans. He said he had not yet seen my email, but had heard about the situation from the salesman and the financing agent I had dealt with. He apologized profusely and we discussed the events and what my complaints were.
Mr. Winans understood my complaints and agreed that Nick had acted unprofessionally. He then offered me the same deal I had received the previous night with an additional $500 off ($400 was added to my trade-in and $100 was reduced from the purchase price). I struggled with the decision, my principles told me to not take the deal, but the more logical side knew I was getting a fairly good deal and that my current vehicle was close to the nickel and dime phase of car ownership and needed to be traded.
To make a potentially long story short (I probably bored everyone to tears with the long letter I posted on Saturday), I accepted the deal and had a new car by 1:00 Saturday afternoon. I haven’t had enough time to stop and take a photo of my new car, but I will be posting it soon!
If any of you ever decide to go to Shawnee Mission Kia, I’d like to recommend two things: 1. do NOT deal with Nick Dudaj, and 2. DO see Chris Winans! He seems to be a fair and honest salesman. Something this world needs more of.
In closing, I just want to add that it was interesting to learn, from my dealings with a few employees at Shawnee Mission Kia on Saturday, that Nick Dudaj is a questionable person, not only as a sales person, but also on a more personal level, as seen by his co-workers. I was also told that Nick will say literally anything to close a sale. This was pretty much proven when I was told that if the manual transmission vehicle I was interested in did not have cruise control, that he would have it added. Another thing that I learned, as I was going through the owner’s manual for my new car: Nick had told me that the USB port would allow me to charge my electronics, such as a camera or cell phone. The USB port does not function in this way on the vehicle. It is to be used to connect an MP3 player to play through the audio system. I am amazed by the amount of lies I was told, because that was not even a selling point for me. He just told me that out of the clear blue.
